We Begin This Way

We Begin This Way

Herself, Her husband and her sons. Luke 2:19 “Mary treasured up all these things, pondering them in her heart.” Every day is ordinary. Every day is holy.

My smallest little turned one on the 7th.

He is to be my last baby…as far as we know. It took us almost 4 years to get him and he is just perfect. We celebrated his first trip around the sun with a small party, he devoured his cupcake as readily as he devours any and all food we put in front of him.

He has been taking steps, 2 here, 4 there. The first in thousands of steps that will take him out into the world. His eyes remain a lovely greeny blue shade, they change with his moods, with the weather. He is even tempered and smiley. He has a dimple in his left cheek.

He is my wee buggy. And I am so lucky I am his Mama.

Summer Chef Celebration!

What better way to start a business than to offer a little something for my inaugural customers! Anyone who schedules their party in June, July, or August will receive a cooking class party for 6 absolutely free!

So find a reason to celebrate and give us a call! I’m just sitting here…thinking about making some sea salt fudge brownies. Save me from myself! 😉

Wine & Country

My dear friends Ty and Melissa Button asked me to cater their one year wedding anniversary party. Their menu was Texas style brisket and BBQ chicken (the country), and several types of wines and sangria (the…um…wine). We have had gorgeous weather here in AZ so I was able to offer a fresh tomato and corn salad along with the usual baked potatoes and beef! It was a lovely party and I had a blast learning to use their fancy smoker!

You say it’s your birthday?

For my 28th birthday, I decided to have a bunch of people over and make some upscale small bites. I cheated a little and got some divine cheese souffles from Trader Joe’s to bulk up my menu (and to save me a little time and sweat in the kitchen!) but overall everything was from Thomas Keller’s Ad Hoc at Home (a really fabulous cookbook that combines Keller’s incredibly clean, fresh, haute cuisine style and translates it for the home cook through simple recipes) and my brain. I also offered a non-alcoholic option at the bar (a surprising first!), a raspberry Mule: ginger beer, lime juice, muddled raspberries. YUM.

I spent all day cooking in my little kitchen and by just before party time it was a disaster! I guess when I am not in someone else’s kitchen I don’t clean as I go along! Luckily my lovely husband pitched in and helped me bat cleanup before our guests arrived!
